SurgiLight,
Inc (SRGL.OB) announced today that its Laser Presbyopia Reversal
Procedure (LAPR) had been featured in this months edition
of the Video Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in
an issue entitled, “The Surgical Assualt on Presbyopia.”
This video reviews the state-of-the-art of all the current
surgical Presbyopia procedures. Spencer Thornton, M.D., who
is well known for his pioneering work in the field, provided
introductions of each technique. Dr. Thornton has also lectured
for SurgiLight in that past, despite his development of a
competing implant, because he believes the “SurgiLight
technology holds real promise.”
The video
segment features a surgical segment showing the LAPR procedure
being performed by Dr. Sandra Belmont of Cornell University
as well as several interviews on the technique and clinical
outcomes. The dialogue includes results of from the first
30 patients in the U.S. clinical trial in which 93% of patients
can read at J3 or better, i.e. can read a newspaper without
glasses. There were no significant complications in the first
study.
