SurgiLight, Inc. (SRGL.OB) announced that on April
4, 2005, the Honorable G. Kendall Sharp, United States District
Judge for the Middle District of Florida, entered a final settlement
agreement between the SEC and SurgiLight, Inc. to civil litigation
stemming from the actions of J.T. Lin, founder of SurgiLight.
Dr. Lin has already received a criminal conviction for his actions.
Surgilight consented without admitting or denying the Commission's
allegations, and agreed to refrain from violating Section 10(b)
of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Sections 5(a), 5(c)
and 17(a) of the Securities Act of 1933. The Commission agreed
not to assess any fees or penalties against SurgiLight or its
current officers or directors.
Dr. Colette Cozean, CEO and Chairwoman of SurgiLight, stated,
“We are glad to have this serious issue behind the Company
so that we can focus on the bright future ahead of SurgiLight.
This settlement lays to rest a chapter in our history that closed
more than three years ago when the company replaced its management
and Board of Directors and refocused the Company on its proprietary
treatment for Presbyopia.”
